My mom bought me my first camera at the age of 10. I was leaving the Bronx to spend the summer visiting family in the Dominican Republic. I took that little pocket camera everywhere I went that year and fell in love with photography in the process.
Photography remained a hobby as the years passed - It took a backseat to playing the trombone in my junior highschool band, and to sprinting my way to victories on my highschool track team. When it came time to go to college and choose a major, It took a backseat to business because that's what I was supposed to do back then; but I always kept a camera by my side.
My career in finance started soon after college. As much as I enjoyed it, I really looked forward to doing my own thing; so after only a few years I took a chance & started freelancing in graphic design. It was during this time that it finally clicked - One of my regular clients expressed how unhappy they were with the quality of some photos to be used on a CD cover I was designing for them. The photos had been taken some time ago and the photographer was no where to be found. Wanting to keep my clients happy, I offered to reshoot the photos for them. That decision opened up so many opportunities for me and it was the first time that I realized I should be focusing on what I enjoyed doing most, photography.
